Appeal following suspected poaching

Officers are conducting inquiries locally after receiving reports of illegal poaching and trespass in Stafford overnight. 

We were called at 3am today (Friday 17 October) to Sandon Hall on Lichfield Road following reports of suspicious activity. 

A number of individuals were believed to be in the wooded area, close to JolPool Lane in Sandon, with rifles. 

Following the sound of shots, a number of pheasants were found dead in the area.

Officers attended along with colleagues from the National Police Air Service (NPAS), and carried out a search, which proved to be negative. 

We are continuing to monitor the area and urge anyone with information to contact us on 101 quoting incident number 41 of 17 October.
